Fieldwork exposes you to unusual experiences and allows you to learn new things about life and the world – here is an example: you are going down with an escalator, facing down, feeling cool in your luxurious mall, riding this powerful piece of machinery, defying the sign asking you to hold on to the rail, you are not an old scary lady who waits and looks before climbing on it, after all. Well, if the engine stops, as it happened to me yesterday, you are suddenly projected forwards, in proportion to the speed of the escalator. If you are lost in your thoughts, it is an interesting, surprising and dangerous experience. You could fall headfirst down steep sharp metal steps, I never thought of it! Hold on to the rail
